WHAT I LEARNED WHEN I READ THE BIBLE
I learned the long listings of genealogy in the Bible provide proof of the lineage of Jesus as well has historical accuracy. These family listings also document the many prophecies pointing to Christ. One example of this is we learn in Genesis the Savior would be a Jew and He would come from the tribe of Judah. Without accurately recorded genealogies, this would be hard to verify. There are roughly 351 prophesies in the Old Testament that point to Jesus as the Messiah. Recorded genealogy assists in providing historically accurate documentation. We might tire of reading these long lists of names, but they are there for a reason.
