WHAT I LEARNED WHEN I READ THE BIBLE
Just after the Tower of Babel, we see Abram (later known as Abraham) come onto the scene. Abraham was a descendant of Shem, who was Noah’s blessed son. “It is not just that Abraham was the ancestor of the Jews, but that he was the man through whom God’s purposes of salvation started to be achieved. Adam’s disobedience precipitated a deluge of sinful acts that ended in the flood. Noah, the new father of the human race, was ‘blameless’, but he also fell and that culminated in the overweening pride of Babel. This in turn was punished with a judgement affecting all mankind. Now with Abraham God started again, this time promising ‘all peoples on earth will be blessed through you’.” (Genesis 12:3) -New Bible Commentary
